Bless This Crow Heart of Mine
By Megan Allegra Mathew

Bless this crow heart of mine… This hungry house and its hungry mouse.
Mama, bless my sins and all the joy I derive from them. Purple veins
and wine stains, crossing barren train tracks hoping to score a
wrong-side sweetheart.
Please bless our melodious mess and the unwanted guest hiding in the
wardrobe. Bless my naïve pelt and beating bloated heart and every
pissed organ in-between. Bless the martyr, and bless the muse, the
starling and the dancing shoes, and leave this gambler’s heart to
fold, please don’t let me lose --- Mama, bless these sins
Here are horizons and vultures, picking at bones, crossing plains with
only sweet pain in tow…
Bless this bridge across the empty trash cans and Bless this
lightning-struck soul
Mama, bless the open mines inviting us to dine… Bless this crow heart of mine.
